The Russian BMP series began in the year 1966. It was designed as a fusion of the armoured personnel carrier and light tank concepts. It was produced widely in a number of variants, by all countries loyal to the USSR.
In OFP, the BMP was first included in two versions: the bmp-1 (ob'yect765sp3 with an at-3 spigot anti tank missile launcher, low velocity cannon, and machinegun), and an ambulance version. In reality, the ambulance version was a special version native to Czechoslovakia (now the Czech and Slovak Republics), and was never used by the Russian Army. The BMP 2 was added in patch version 1.30. The FIA version with a green stripe was introduced in the Resistance Expansion. The BMP-2 returned in ArmA and ArmA 2, and the BMP-3 was introduced in the latter.
